Turn ideas into art
Paint the Future
We turn different ideas about tomorrow into one shared image. Everyone sketches a personal future first, then we look for connections in a large painting or collage.
How do we approach this workshop?
Everyone first sketches an individual future idea using colour, shapes and symbols. The group then looks for connections and designs one composition, painting from background to personal details.
Read the full approach: four creative stages
From first idea to finished artwork
- Turn a future question into images
We begin with an open question such as “What would we like to create together in a year?” or “How would our ideal workplace feel?” Each person gathers words, colours, symbols and quick sketches on small cards, without needing a finished plan.
- Make individual visual sketches
Participants choose their most important idea and give it a visual form. A bridge might suggest connection, a path progress, an open window new space. We explore colour contrasts and visual metaphors; the drawing need not be literal or technically perfect.
- Design a shared composition
We put the sketches side by side and look for recurring motifs, differences and complementary ideas. Together, we decide what needs a place in the shared artwork. We plan the background, the connecting shapes and the elements that should remain distinct.
- Paint the future together
On a large canvas or panel, we paint the background and main colours first. Everyone then adds their own motif while lines, colours and shapes can travel between different sections. We finish with details and accents, and give the artwork a shared title.
What happens during the creative process?
Images often make similarities and differences more concrete than words alone. Participants discover which ideas recur, where more space is needed and how several directions can coexist in one shared vision.
What do you take away?
A large collaborative painting or collage that visibly connects personal ideas. The result can be displayed and revisited later.
